A Minot man charged with two felonies after threatening another man at a northwest Minot hotel on Saturday made his initial appearance in North Central District Court Monday.
Larron Terrell Lewis, 45, Minot, was arrested and charged following the incident with two Class C felony counts of terrorizing and felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, Minot Police officers responded to a report shortly before 11 p.m. of a man yelling at another man in the hotel’s parking lot. While the reporting individual was on the phone with dispatch, they stated the man, later allegedly identified as Lewis, had pulled out a gun and was chasing the victim through the parking lot.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a witness told investigators that Lewis had been argumentative and combative with other residents of the hotel throughout the day, yelling profanities and other threatening statements. The witness said the alleged victim approached Lewis to talk to him after he began yelling at someone else in the parking lot.
The alleged victim was later interviewed by police, who told them he tripped as he was being chased by Lewis, but Lewis left after being told to back off by another bystander. The victim said he encountered Lewis again inside the hotel and Lewis once again brandished his firearm at him before he was able to return to his room.
Investigators were unsuccessful in their attempts to make contact with Lewis and a search warrant for his room was executed by the Minot SWAT team shortly before midnight. Lewis was taken into custody and two firearms and ammunition were recovered. Lewis was previously convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm on Nov. 16, 2023, in Trempealeau County Court Circuit in Wisconsin.
No bond is listed for Lewis at this time and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 20.
