Air rifle teams compete in Minot
Air rifle teams from Ramsey and Pierce counties placed first in their divisions at the 2024 North Dakota State 4-H Air Rifle Championship hosted in Minot by the Ward County and Ramsey County Shooting Sports clubs.
Competitors in the three-position civilian marksmanship program perform 20 shots at a bullseye target at 10 meters in three positions. Youth use a sporter air rifle to fire in the kneeling, prone and standing positions for a total of 60 shots and maximum of 600 points.
Ramsey County’s senior team finished first in the team competition with a score of 1,554.
Senior division individual winners included Kiley Whillock of Ward County, who finished fourth with a score of 499.
Ramsey County’s junior team also placed first.
Junior division individual winners included Jace Schilla of Ward County in third with a score of 438 and Kallen Azure of Pierce County in fourth with a score of 331.
The Pierce County beginner team placed first with a score of 1,643. Team members were Xavier Fritel, Jared Migler, Archer Eagleson and Grant Teigen.
Beginner division individual winners included:
– second, Fritel, Pierce County, with a score of 558.
– third, Kayla Whitlock , Ward County, with a score of 547.
– fourth – Migler, Pierce County, with a score of 545.
– fifth, Eagleson, Pierce County, with a score of 540.
The masters division comprises shooters who will represent North Dakota 4-H in the 2024 4-H National Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska, June 23-28. This is an individual competition.
Masters level winners were all from the Ward County team. Their finishes and scores were: first, Olivia Jensen, 527; second, Landen Jensen, 480; third, Alyssa Korgel, 467; and fourth, Zachary Korgel, 452.
