BURLINGTON – The Ward County Historical Society has selected its leadership for 2024 and scheduled major projects for the year.
Larger projects that membership will be working toward completing in 2024 will be placement of a bell tower on the Immanuel Church, refurbishing a Montgomery Ward chicken coop, refurbishing a homesteader cabin that came from north of Minot and completing different work phases on bringing the old Kiddie Land Carousel from Roosevelt Park back to life.
Delwyn Groninger replaces Dave Leite as president on the board of directors. Other officers are Bob Bruhaug, vice president; Dave Lebrun, treasurer; and Sue Bergan, secretary. Board directors are Steve Perry, Dan Caswell and Tim Hoff.
The Ward County Historical Society welcomes new and renewed members to serve as volunteer workers, decision-makers and donors. Contact a board member or attend a meeting. Member meetings are held the first Thursday of each month in Eureka Hall, at the Pioneer Village, at 6:45 p.m.

The Ward County Historical Society presented its 2018-2023 president, Dave Leite, right, with a gavel plaque and gift card in appreciation of his service for the past six years. Making the presentation for WCHS is Delwyn Groninger, 2024 president. Leite helped lead the transition of the Pioneer Village buildings and artifacts from the North Dakota State Fairgrounds to its new home at 8181 Highway 2&52 W., which is a mile east of the entrance to the city of Burlington on the south side of the highway.
