Minot State preps for title defense with sweeps
CARONPORT, Saskatchewan – The Minot State men’s hockey team opened its season with a pair of exhibition wins in Canada this weekend, beating host Regina 5-3 late Friday night, then topping Briercrest 5-4 Saturday afternoon.
Colby Joseph scored what proved to be the game-winner on Friday, and Sheldin Howard added an insurance goal for the Beavers against Regina.
Saturday, Carter Barley’s second of the game broke a 4-4 tie and gave Minot State the win.
Troy Hamilton also scored twice and Christian Kadolph added a goal in the Beaver victory.
Complete details from Friday’s and Saturday’s games were not available.
Minot State is back in action next weekend, opening the season for real as they play at Liberty University in Virginia on Sept. 22 and 23.
The Beavers are back in North Dakota playing at Jamestown on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and make their home debut at the Maysa Arena on Friday, Sept. 29, hosting Liberty at 7:30 p.m.
