Grant to provide instruction for beginning farmers

The Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture at Dakota College at Bottineau has received a $48,675 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture for outreach, education and technical assistance for Native American and veterans who are beginning producers focusing on specialty crops in North Dakota, according to information provided by the college.

This is a portion of the grant investments of more than $53 million across three unique programs for U.S. farmers, ranchers, and military veterans to support American agriculture.

The Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture will reach out to veterans and Native American tribal producers to introduce and identify specific needs. The objective of this project is to provide outreach workshops and individualized instruction to Native Americans and veterans wishing to begin agricultural ventures in specialty crop production in North Dakota.

This is a one-year grant to conclude the fall of 2021.

Starting at $2.99/week.
