Pedestrian struck on Highway 83 near Max
MAX – A pedestrian on the highway near Max was killed shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday when struck by a vehicle, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The 30-year-old Mandan man was reported to be standing in the southbound, right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 83, a mile south of Max, when struck by a Ford pickup, headed to Underwood and driven by Marshall Hofstad, 22, of Cologne, Minn. Neither Hofstad, who pulled over after the collision, nor his passenger, Wyatt Wilson, 21, of Underwood, were injured. The incident happened at about 1:19 a.m.
No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation.
