Minot Dollars for Scholars accepting applications
Minot Area Dollars for Scholars is accepting applications for its 2014 scholarship awards. Students who are currently attending one of Minot’s high schools or are recent graduates of a Minot high school are eligible. Applications are accepted online only. Students may go to the Minot Area Dollars for Scholars website at
(minot.dollarsforscholars.org), click on the student and parents tab and log in to begin creating a student profile or edit their existing profile. The application deadline is March 31, 2014. Also, Margaret Ingerslew of the Minot Area Dollars for Scholars attended the sixth annual North Dakota Dollars for Scholars Conference held in Bismarck on Nov. 2.
Chapter representatives learned about volunteer recruitment and fundraising. For attending the conference, the Chapter will receive a $1,000 scholarship donation from Bank of North Dakota.
North Dakota Dollars for Scholars has 80 community chapters in the state. Bank of North Dakota provides a state director and operational support for local chapters. Since the first chapter was established in Grand Forks in 1962, Dollars for Scholars chapters in North Dakota have raised over $27 million and helped over 22,500 students.
This year, Minot Area Dollars for Scholars plans to award $4,000 to local high school students and recent graduates attending college. Events such as the annual 5k Family Fun Run held in June increase funds available for students.
