Tom Seymour, a Minot State University professor, has been selected by the Higher Learning Commis-sion to chair an accreditation visit to the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, March 4-6. Seymour has participated in more than 60 HLC visits and was given a HLC 30-year service award in 2010.

The HLC is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the U.S. The Higher Learning Commission accredits, and thereby grants membership in the commission and in the North Central Association, degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region.
