Western Plains Opera presents ‘Oliver!’

Submitted Photo The Western Plains Opera cast of “Oliver!” can be seen receiving direction while rehearsing for the upcoming show on April 11 and 12.

The Western Plains Opera will present “Oliver!” on April 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. each night. The show will be at Minot State University’s Ann Nicole Nelson Hall.

Seth Honerman will be directing the show based on the 1838 novel “Oliver Twist” by Charles Dickens, alongside Abbie Eads conducting the orchestra.

“This production of ‘Oliver!’ is really coming together in a way that reflects the skill and energy of the Minot community. Our cast of nearly 40 performers includes youth from grades 4-12, MSU college students, and adults – each bringing something unique to the table,” Eads said.

Also featured will be dancers from the Institute of Dance and Ballet Theater led by Rinat Mouzafarov and include costume designs from Dr. DeVera Bowles.

The story will follow a young orphan battling the harsh streets of London while searching for a place to call home. Filled with adventure, memorable songs, there’s a more complex story of survival, kindness and unexpected relationships that change lives. The musical captures the spirit of hope in the face of adversity.

The Western Plains Opera began in 1976 with the production of “The Student Prince” and has since grown into an ever growing opera company and built a well known reputation. The company has offered room for growth within Minot’s artistic community by offering fully-staged productions of both opera and musical theater.

Starting at $2.99/week.
