Fort Stevenson hosts Dickens geocache ornament exchange
GARRISON – Twelve ornaments are awaiting discovery at Fort Stevenson State Park during the annual Dickens Village Festival in Garrison.
Each Friday of the festival – Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 – the park will publish GPS coordinates of four geocaches containing an ornament, each a first-to-find prize. The park asks that only one ornament per family is collected. Coordinates will be posted on the park’s social media pages.
Following the traditional practice of “take something, leave something” in geocaches, participants are asked to bring an ornament to exchange. The park encourages the first finder to collect the first-to-find ornament and leave an ornament for the next geocacher to collect and so on. Please contact the park office with any questions.
There is no fee to participate but the park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a state park annual pass is displayed. Fort Stevenson State Park is located three miles south of Garrison.
