Amateur radio club to host summer ham fest

The Souris Valley Amateur Radio Club will host Minot Summer Hamfest Saturday, July 13, in Minot Municipal Auditorium.

The event begins at 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast and concludes at 2:30 p.m.

Seminars will be held on amateur radio contesting, antennas and lightning protection, understanding ham radio propagation, basic ham radio, a worldwide radio messaging system called Winlink and multi-band wire antennas. Nancy Yoshida will share information about her visit to Antarctica, including ham radio points of interest.

License examinations for the Technician, General and Amateur Extra Federal Communications Commission licenses will be conducted for interested individuals who have their FCC Registration Numbers (FRN) with them.

A flea market will be held and lunch served. The event concludes with prize drawings and the Ham of the Year award presentation.
