The Voices of Note to hold spring concert

The Voices of Note is to present its “Spring Concert” on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with refreshments to follow.

“We come from all walks of life, teachers, retired businesspeople, stay at home moms, we all come together to sing,” said director Nadine Holmly.

Voices of Note is comprised of women from Minot, Drake, Granville, Donnybrook, Burlington and Glenburn. The three directors, Roberta Johnson, Sharon Strube and Nadine Holmly, have been singing together for 35 years.

The afternoon will be comprised of both secular and sacred music. The concert is to feature several vocal soloists, Sarah Putt, Martha Fix, Karen Langemo, Tammy Doerr, Cheryl Nielson, Karen Brunner Wright and nine-year-old Declan Bourquin. Several songs also include special accompaniment from Tammy Doerr, flute; Julia Putt, drum; and Jennifer Livingston, violin.

Some of the songs included in Sunday’s concert are, “Crowded Table,” composed by Brandi Charlie; “It’s All Right,” by Curtis Mayfield; “Send in the Clowns,” by Stephen Sondheim; and “Shalom,” by Dan Forrest.

The concert is free and open to the public, A freewill offering will be held during intermission.
