Message from the Principal:
As you know, the MPS District is holding a bond election on April 8, 2014. The MPS Board is proposing a new elementary school on land already owned by the district in southeast Minot, additional classrooms to Edison and Perkett elementary schools, and safety enhancements to all district buildings. The total cost for the bond election is 39.5 million dollars.
Currently, we have 475 students housed in makeshift temporary classrooms. In addition, all but two of the district’s elementary schools are over crowded.
For more information you can access the MPS website at ****minot.k12.nd.us. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office. Please mark your calendars and be sure to vote on April 8, 2014, at the Minot Municipal Auditorium from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

why would we change the constitution, it already allows for use of land trust money to be used for building schools.
VOTE EARLY AT COURTHOUSE!!!
I am voting NO!!! But they are a little cagey this time as there is only ONE place to vote. So the older senior voters will be more inclined to stay home, who is mostly your NO voters. Too bad, should be a more "FAIR" vote!!!

Yes, I will vote NO. Now let's get the state to change state constitution allowing state land fund use. Just takes a state wide vote.

There truly is a need for a new elementary school.
There is also a need to find the funding from other sources.
One of those sources would be the state's general fund.
If the State of North Dakota is going to foot the bill to clean up oil's oily rags in Noonan, then the State of North Dakota can apply state funds to also fund some of the other necessities that oil's presence has foisted upon the state.
It sure would help a lot if that oil money the state receives on a daily basis could be used to help build a new elementary school in Minot.
One million barrels per day is 80 million dollars each day in oil revenue to oil companies. 11 percent extraction tax for the one time oil harvest is 8,800,000 dollars each day for the State of North Dakota. 5 days of oil extraction tax revenue will pay for the new elementary school in Minot.
They've got the money to do the job of funding education and to pay for the infrastructure.
The state has the money.
