Maybe for the lower grades.. But the older kids better learn to live with it if you live in North Dakota..
More wussification of the next generation..

The kids especially at Central do wait outside for rides and if there were an emergency inside any of the schools where evacuation was needed, they would be in dire straits.

keyzgirl... hopefully they could round up enough buses to move the kids to the auditorium or event center. I can now see good reason for the smaller schools in the smaller towns to have enough bus seats for every student in school to evacuate to in case of severe weather and they can't be outside for long.

And I suppose those mobile emergency shelters (buses) should be kept at or very near the schools during school time.

The teachers could have had their conference Monday instead of early release on Wednesday. Then maybe a make-up day could have been reconsidered. The ease of adult decision making, I assume the teachers were given the day off as well. Correct if I’m wrong!
So If we are in for a long cold spell say 2 weeks of really cold weather we just shut school down..
I know lets teach all summer well its hot and just close the schools in December January and february.. Wouldnt have much for snow days and kids could be home in the darker days..
Hows that folks.. Now let the crying begin..

I hate to second guess...but it's gonna be just as deadly cold tomorrow. Also tacking makeup day onto June, extending the school year, was tacky. AND they have early release Wed.

As for buses not working and kid waiting on the corner freezing. This is Minot, these kids do not ride buses, I would guess maybe 10% ride the city bus but that's it.

I am pretty sure no one is concerned about sending young school kids on public buses with riff raff type folks, especially big oil types. So, why worry about them bundling up.
Vote NO, make them GO

Unless the child is in Head Start, or other special programs, there are no yellow buses for Minot Public schools except to transport to sporting events, etc. There are no "school bus" routes in the city of Minot.
