They did nothing but transfer funds with no reform or reduction. I call it giving the local governments a chance to 'double dip'.

minot was able to punish a lot of us again for voting for measure 2 by increasing our property taxes. and after the 'news' report that our schools suck, i anticipate another increase. keep it local you know.....

They are giving money to the schools and now we have to vote to change the mill levy in every school district. They tossed it in our lap to get people to agree to lower the mill levy. The schools will spend the money so fast we will never see a drop in property tax. We need to vote property tax out for all peoples primary housing. Tax the land that produces but if it is non producing homes no more tax. How hard is that to grasp???

$860,000,000.00 divided by 600,000 citizens is about $1,433.00 per person. Give us the money and we will keep the mill levy where it is.

The only thing the state legislature did this year is make laughing stock of themselves and completely ignored the average Joe who has been living here to make it all go for how long now.
North Dakotans are not going to see any of the oil money, the money masters have it all sewn into a convoluted, twisted entry that has no exit except back to the money masters.
You can shake your chains and complain about what should really be done with all that money, but it will do no good.
So, shake those chains.

Tax relief!WHAT TAX RELIEF? We will see nothing, the school districts have no intention of reducing the mill levy. And guess what, I just got my notice of increase on the value of my property, so UP go my taxes!! The Indians are getting more money given to them, from the oil income, they didn't forget them, just us dumb working people, to stupid to handle our own money!
Did you fools actually believe that the money grubbing Republican party was about to share oil money and tax relief with the hard working people of North Dakota?
"Corporations are people my friend"

I'm too fatigued to research if any Democrat legislators voted in North Dakota's latest session.
Because if they did vote, at all, in any way disagreeable to willgrr, no doubt he'd have castigated them thoroughly by now.
Has anyone ever seen a money-grubbing Democrat? Or is there no such thing?
Equal time, willgrr. Your viewpoint needs expansion. Include everyone and I'm sure we'll all thank you.

We live in a country that taxes half of your income in one form or another, others estimate the tax burden to be in the neighborhood of 67 percent.
Just makes you a slave here, in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Governments are great mass killing. Communists are really good at it. Pogroms are their forte, fun in the sun. National Socialists took lessons from Andrew Jackson and the Indian Removal Act, so governments really do cause misery for people. Ask the Native Americans on the North American continent if they were ever mistreated by the United States gov.
Ask the victims in Pakistan who have suffered drone attacks by the US military if they have been mistreated.
Governments and their military machines cause the most pain and suffering in this world.
Taxes pay for it all. It is no wonder at all that you are not going to receive any tax relief. You're all sheep standing in line to be sheared.
You're sheep led to slaughter. Shake those chains.

Governments are great at mass killing.
The KeepItLocalND(KILND) website was taken down right after the election regarding measure 2. It must have been killed! :-) From the great(sarcasm) Al Carslon, "For those who might think Republican legislators do not care about people, consider this: The North Dakota Human Services budget for the next biennium will exceed $2.7 billion. We increased funding for programs that help better provide for our veterans, seniors, children and the disabled. We extended Medicaid coverage to more than 24,000 additional low-income families. And this Legislature created new programs to make child care more available and affordable. willgarr, when the dems spend like drunking sailors it is called compassion; but republicans do the same and they are called money grabbing. Can't have it both ways, buddy.

The Republicans in North Dakota have Baron von Munchhausen disease.
Governments are great at debasing the currency, and as a result, taxes increase because government becomes more expensive because government debased the dollar!
You are the one who has to pay for all of their incompetent governance.
It's a Catch 22 and not a win win situation, it is always a win lose with the taxpayer the loser.
That is the game these days.

It’s a lot of money when the feds pick up the tab for the first three years. So your Medicaid expansion claim is bogus.
" Can't have it both ways, buddy."

It is a catch 22...the oil boom which created the surplus, has also inflated housing values...thus negating any savings via property taxes...its a no win situation that's for sure...except for the bureaucrats and their close circle of cronies! ! ! SOCIALISM FOR THE RICH..CAPITALISM FOR THE REST
Medicaid expansion is from the democrats, so I see why you defend that and don't understand that money from the feds is also OUR money. I am sure that you supported Obamacare. Remember the idea that everyone would be mandated to pay for their OWN insurance? That fell by the wayside. Medicaid expansion is NOT free money, dufus. You should be lauding Dalrymple and the republicans for pushing through the democrat program.
OOPS! My bad, I thought we were in control.
I'm thinking about selling everything I own except my homestead and going on vacation for a couple years, see the world and enjoy whats left of my money. Then come home and get in the welfare line for free insurance, free food, free heat for my house and just plain old free time to fish and stuff like that. Anybody want to join me? Save one of those free houses in Minot for me if I overspend on vacation and have to sell my house to make sure I have a most memorable time.
VERITAS Apr-27-13 2:43 PM "Pride & prejudice will re-elect misery and being dependent on others just keeps getting handed down generation after generation"
84% says NO..or not even close...
loco insists there's more than one eye to poke out from the Cyclops dynasty and EB wants to give back everything that ND's have been given. Disgusted thinks medicare expansion is democratic waste..."It's our money"...Well, it's somebody's money.
"Better get used to Randian idealogues who disguise themselves as Republicans"
If you're not positioned, if you're not subsidized and if you're not on THE chart...You're buffed.
That pretty much speaks for 84% of ND's...so the survey is correct!

"OOPS! My bad, I thought we were in control."
willgrr, what do you mean by "we" in this sentence?
Democrats or Republicans, most politicians seem to be Buzz Lightyear when it comes to taxes and/or spending:
"To infinity and beyond!"

EarlyBird, our friend Jack would be proud of you for eating your peas and drinking your koolaid like a good little guy.
Veritas, if I could understand what you're getting at with your post, I might be able to address "eyes of Cyclops" or other such profundities you want to dish up.
For me, it's better to keep it simple.

Ice fishing is not a sport that I find agreeable, though I have a bro-in-law that loves going all the time.
Now I can easily forget ice fishing for a whole...what....five more months?
Bring on the garden tomatoes and cucumbers! I'm ready!

Question was "Did the 2013 Legislature do enough to reduce property taxes in the state?"
The North Dakota Republican Party is strongly in control of the state's politics. The party holds nearly all statewide positions in addition to having a supermajority in both houses, of the state legislature, over the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party. Courtesy of Wiki...
You might be a little fatigued but surely the 84% should hold the other 84% accountable?
Hence, poke away but make sure you're poking correctly because this state wanted a one-eyed cyclops to run this state and you got what you voted for!
