NEITHER...what about natural gas that we have an abundance of?....just saw it on the local news that it would be around $1.50 a gallon at the pump..all they need is switch the pumps over to handle natural gas....there's another monopoly called BIG OIL, that doesn't want this money/environmental saving scenario coming to fruition! ! !

" all they need to do is switch pumps". another "easy" solution that requires all lot of money to do it. and then the complaining from libs would start because it wasn't free. There are refueling stations Mark - buy a LG car and save yourself some money.

What happened to Obamas electric cars? I thought after 5 years every liberal in the country would be driving one. After all they are the dear leaders request and his libs just are not bowing down to him. How come folks?

Mark your comment is full of examples of liberal ignorance! Guess what? The BIG OIL DEVILS own the natural gas too! Libs are all alike they talk a talk, but can't walk the walk!

Hahha yeah you have to convert your vehicle to burn it also, back in the 70's many people were burning propane in their crew vehicles. I don't know what converting fuel injected vehicles entails but should be possible. They are talking NG now so that is a little different and dirtier than propane. I know some of the larger big oil companies are very busy coming up with better ways to capture all the energy/money that comes out of the ground. The biggest problem with Y grade gas straight of the ground is transporting it to a facility to liquify it. One of the huge oil companies is working on having gas and oil pipelines to/from each well pad instead of adding even more trucks to the roads. Big problems need big fixes sometimes.

Natural Gas cars are available but cost 2 to 5 thousand more, so there is no gain. The conversion will cost the same, plus you'll need fueling stations.
You won't get far without fueling stations.
An electric car is a good idea for short distance driving. You won't be buying any gas, but electric cars come at a cost to build and gasoline would still be used to produce electric cars, so you won't escape the use of petroleum products.
Studebaker's first car was an electric car. Oil was abundant back in 1901, so gas won the battle. In the future, electricity will be more plentiful than gasoline, so electric cars might return one day for urban transportation.
The gasoline engine offers much more power, so it will never go away as long as there is oil and there is a million barrels of oil leaving North Dakota every day; there is plenty of oil at the present time, so there is no need to worry.
Burn regular, lead-free for peak operation of your ICE. Avoid ethanol.

mules is absolutely right about avoiding ethanol. It's murder on small engines, like lawn mowers and chainsaws.

Hey Animal---Your comment is full of right-wing ignorance. A typical example of reading into a comment more than is there. MHW said NOTHING about big oil not owning natural gas reserves, YOU inferred that!!! Can you not read, or is it thinking you right wing nutballs have trouble with?
Is polite language you left-wing people have trouble with, raj?

Loco---I phrased in the form of a Fox News question, that's as polite as I'm gonna get with some delusional, wilfully ignorant poor excuse...Thanks for your concern though.

New Jersey,if the proposed bill, S-2531, by Democratic Atlantic County State Senator James Whelan, electric and alternative-fueled cars would be charged a fee of 0.00839 cents per mile traveled. The bill would apply to electric cars but not hybrids.
Electric car owners would pay more than if they were being charged the state’s current 10.5 cents-per-gallon tax and 13.5 cents-per-gallon on diesel fuels.

minreader's post is ironic, isn't it?

raj, since I don't listen to Fox, your reference falls rather flat with me.
Instead of blaming a network, own your impoliteness. Be brave.

Loco---Unfamiliar with Fox News crawler? They're famous..."Obama a Muslim?" "Obama attended madrassa?" "Obama a socialist"?
I can't believe you're unfamiliar with the tactic.
No apologies...who else said that? Oh, yeah, Rmoney. After seeing some of the yahoos here spout off with the most absurd baloney, a person has to put them in their place. And then they just dig deeper with even more outlandish crap.
Anybody notice the Govt. paid down the debt by 35 billion dollars today? Do you feel richer? Don't check, you're not. It really is pathetic how delusional the right is. Sad and pathetic.

locomotive, yes it is very ironic. the democrats noticed the loss in taxes from the gas sales. so said bill would bring back the lost revenue
minreader, it appears it's all about the money for some people, even the Democrats.

Yes, raj, I'm unfamiliar with Fox crawlers.
I've seen ABC crawlers on the early morning news. I like those.
Apparently, you are the Fox expert here. So when do I get to say "Faux" expert? Now?
