Do you admire President Obama more or less now that he's latched onto the gun violence issue?

  1. More
  2. Less

Never admired him before, no reason to start now.

Rajj, I agree that the word "latch" has certain connotations.

Remember Mayor Bloomberg's program? "Latch on NYC?"

Yeah, I think lots of folks had a reaction to that, one way or the other.

Latched? Latched? Biased wording of a question much?

What a laughable phrasing of that question. You should have had "added to your already disgust of the man" as another true option.

Well, Veritas, I didn't vote for bumping your posts.

I think both the 1st and 2nd amendments are inalienable.

Looks like one of Veritas' posts got bumped, so I guess I'll have to retract my "laughable" and "precedence" references. They don't make sense anymore.

Not that making perfect sense has been the one and only objective here on MDN, right?

Veritas, factcheck . org was useful during last year's campaign. I remember liberals frequently posting factcheck's articles, as it suited their attempts to disqualify an opponent's source.

Why else would I have chosen the organization to check your "facts" Veritas? You mean I should just accept your word as truth? California Dreamin' that...

Well, I'm glad you yourself have deemed factcheck as a non-reliable source to explore all sides of a story.

Now the next time a liberal uses it, I will say it is laughable, as I have precedence now.

Thanks for the gift :-)

I almost was shot in the head with a shotgun blast when I was a kid. I felt the waft of the blast just above my head. I'm a bit gun shy because of the incident, very cautious, and abide by all of the rule when shooting a firearm. Just happy to be alive ever since then. A long time ago now. You have to be very careful when handling firearms. In the past 30 years, I have fired a high powered rifle twice. I don't even know where my BB gun is. I sold my shot gun 20 years ago. I quit hunting, would rather see the animals live in the woods with Bambi. Not kidding.

Besides, a well-aimed, perfectly placed BB shot will disable anybody and they won't have to die.

It costs taxpayers 1.6 billion each year to run the White House. 438 workers there make over 100 grand per year.

Drones kill women and children in Pakistan and Afghanistan, under Obama's executive leadership, where is the outrage that he is responsible for the deaths of women and children in foreign lands? HE is spending the billions to prosecute those kinds of acts.

Wake up peoples

I don't know about anybody else, but I sure do feel a lot more burdened since Mr. Obama became the president, and, right now, I feel a lot less free and a lot more uncomfortable with what has taken place.

Eventually, it is going to dawn upon Obama voters that they have been duped, taken for a ride, and not on Air Force One.

That there is absolutely nothing there to admire. It's going to happen. In the end, Obama voters will feel betrayed, and it will anger them.

Book it down hard.

OC "I wonder what our forefathers would be thinking if the muskets they had were the killing machines like the AR-15 and the population to support the deranged few that cause mass killings."

In 1775, the musket WAS the AR-15, the military had muskets and so did the civilian population.

73Hockey, you are sharp. Do you suppose some will think you snarkey?

How disillusioned one must be to think that the firepower of a musket is equal to that of an AR-15-oh I forgot--Guns don't kill people--people kill people--not really a question of how many.

VERITAS Jan-17-13 6:41 PM Stopped by factcheck to see about this wonderful story Veritas posted...

"The report that Bush "screamed" those words at Republican congressional leaders in November 2005 is unsubstantiated, to put it charitably.

"We judge that the odds that the report is accurate hover near zero. It comes from Capitol Hill Blue, a Web site that has a history of relying on phony sources, retracting stories and apologizing to its readers."

Ya think that's enough zealotry for one day, Veritas?

So NOW I see why Pres. Obama blames Pres. Bush for everything!

(Isn't that what I'm supposed to say?)

Veritas, shouldn't the Constitution be respected? By all Presidents, Congressmen, Supreme Court Justices, and citizens?

Or should we dispense with the formalities and throw it in the dustbin?

What do you think, Veritas?

3 Agrees | 3 Disagrees | Report Abuse »

Veritas, the three branches of government have their duties, checks and balances all spelled out in the Constitution. As head of the executive branch, a "President" has duties and authority unique to his position, also spelled out in the Constitution.

Those other designations are not so much like a US President, right?

Not so much zealotry as exposition, I think, but we might not agree.

OK. Snarky exposition.

From Merriam-Webster online...

Snarky (adjective)

1: crotchety, snappish 2: sarcastic, impertinent, or irreverent in tone or manner <snarky lyrics> "Snarky" synonyms:

choleric, crabby, cranky, cross, crotchety, fiery, grouchy, grumpy, irascible, peevish, perverse, pettish, petulant, prickly, quick-tempered, raspy, ratty, short-tempered, snappish, snappy, irritable, snippety, snippy, stuffy, testy, waspish

OK, Veritas, I do own "snarky" much of my time here on MDN. But I absolutely draw the line at "snippety."

Me? Snippety?
