Minot city council member Milt Miller resigned his position Monday, effective immediately.
In submitting his resignation to Mayor Chuck Barney, Miller noted that his employment responsibilities do not allow him to attend the meetings on a regular basis. Miller has served on the council since June 2012.
His resignation leaves Minot's Ward 4 without representation. Amy Moen left office July 30 due to a move out of state.
The council has set an election for Nov. 4 to fill Moen's seat. The filing deadline is Sept. 2.
The council could call a special election to fill Miller's seat, or it could appoint a ward resident after Sept. 2 to fill the vacancy until the next city election in June 2016. If a petition of five percent of the voters of the ward is submitted, the council would be required to call a special election. The council is scheduled to meet Sept. 2.
