LaVern Schott, 82, Minot, formerly of Williston, died Friday, July 18, 2014, in a Minot nursing home.
LaVern was born Oct. 13, 1931, in McHenry County, the son of Reynold and Elsie Lillian (Schmidt) Schott. He was raised and educated in McLean County.
LaVern married Luvella Blumhagen on June 14, 1953, in Drake. He was once employed by Farmers Union and Cenex Oil in Minot and later worked in Great Falls, Mont., and in 1979, transferred to Williston where he retired in 1984. After his retirement he managed FM Parkway in Williston. Luvella passed away Oct. 17, 1998.
LaVern was an avid bowler while living in Williston and he was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Williston and Minot.
Survivors: son, Lonnie Schott, Boise, Idaho; daughter, Laureen (Scott) Jacobson, Brookside, N.J.; grandchildren, Andrew and Nadine Jacobson, Brookside, N.J.; sister, Eunice Opozda, Garrison; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Carol Hanson, Kenmare.
LaVern was preceded in death by: his wife, Luvella; parents; and brother, Alvin.
Funeral Service: Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Burial will take place: Thursday, July 24, at 3 p.m., at Riverview Cemetery, Williston.
Visitation will be: Wednesday, July 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
