Ronald Burleson, Minot
I have a couple things I would like to talk about. This state is constantly telling everyone about the Bakken oil patch and how great it is. The problem is it is only great if you work there and making the high wages it provides. For the rest of the people in this state it does nothing. The same thing this state does, it has brought many people into our state and it is causing problems to each town, especially the school systems, and now the state expects the people in each town to take care of the problem. This means higher property taxes so they can build larger schools.
This is where I feel the state should be reaching into their big bank they have and help out each of these towns. I believe the state should take care of building the schools that are needed and each town and should take care of furnishing and placing the books and teachers. I don't want to hear they don't have money when all the other states were having problems. Our bank was already getting larger before the Bakken was brought into the picture and all they said was we are saving this for rainy days. Guess what! It is time the state step up and take care of this with the money that you and I put in that bank with all our taxes. They need to do something for good of the people and you can find a better place to spend the money taking care of our children and grandchildren making sure that they have good schools for them to learn in. This is the best investment the state could ever make and they should do as soon as possible.
I do have other things to talk about but this is the most important one right now. If you feel the same as I do, we need to call or send letters to representatives in Bismarck. They need to reach into that big pocket and take care of this right now.
