Harold LeRoy Gasmann, 90, rural Max, died Friday, June 6, 2014, in a Minot healthcare center.

Harold was born Oct. 26, 1923, at Minot, the son of Bennie and Mina (Haugen) Johnson. He was adopted by the Gasmann family as an infant, after the death of his mother at an early age. He was raised and educated in Gasman Township and graduated from Minot High School in 1941.

During his younger years, he assisted with the operation of the family farm, played baseball and rode motorcycles. He was united in marriage to Agnes Bovkoon on Oct. 30, 1947, at Minot. They made their home on a farm south of Minot in Gasman Township of Ward County, where they farmed and raised their five children. Agnes died Nov. 10, 2011.

Harold was a member of the local Farmers Union Board, Gasman Township Board and was instrumental in developing the South Prairie School Board. He enjoyed farming, deer hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Harold's loving family includes: daughter, Cherie (Don) Hilton, Black Hawk, S.D.; sons, Roger (Kathy) Gasmann, Camarillo, Calif., Eugene (Connie) Gasmann, rural Minot, Robert (Nancy) Gasmann, rural Max, and Richard (Marla) Gasmann, rural Max; grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Thomas, Amanda, Shonda and Justin Gasmann, Brittany (Luke) Katuin and Katie Hilton; great-grandchildren, Kash and Clara Gasmann; sister, Jean Sitz, Cando; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Harold was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Agnes; sisters, Lola and Margie; brothers, Bennie Johnson, Alvin Johnson, Vernon Johnson, Raymond Johnson and Howard Gasmann.

Funeral service: Friday, June 13, at 2 p.m., in Saron Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Gasman Township Cemetery, rural Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, June 12, from 3 to 7 p.m., in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Gasman Township Cemetery Association.
