POT PROBLEMS Colorado officials are dealing with an unexpected problem relating to the state's legalization of marijuana. It seems some folks in the state have taken to eating too much pot instead of smoking it, and state officials and health industry representatives are trying to figure out ways to curb the problem. A task force this past week began discussing ways to help educate the public on how much marijuana is included in foods or drinks, including warning labels on edible pot products that resemble difficulty guidelines on the state's ski slopes. Weaker marijuana products would have green dots, ranging up to black diamonds for the foods or drinks with the strongest concentrates of marijuana. Colorado already limits THC, the intoxicating chemical in marijuana, to 10 mg per serving, with a maximum of 10 servings per package. Still, edible marijuana products have been blamed for at least one death, where a college student from Wyoming jumped to his death from a Denver hotel balcony after eating six times the recommended dosage of a marijuana-laced cookie. Let's hope the state gets a grip on the problem quickly, or gets rid of the law allowing legal marijuana usage in the state.
