Mavericks sweep MSU
MANKATO, Minn. - Minot State nearly snapped Minnesota State-Mankato's massive winning streak, but the host Mavericks erased three- and two-run deficits in the nightcap of a doubleheader Sunday to complete the sweep.
Mankato routed the Beavers 13-3 in five innings in the opener before scoring an 8-5 comeback win in the second game.
The Mavericks (32-6 overall, 16-0 Northern Sun) posted five runs in the fifth inning of the second game to overcome a 5-3 deficit. They have won 22 straight games.
MSU's Jen Dixon (6-3) lost her second straight start. Mindy Lorimor (16-6) suffered the loss in the opener.
The Beavers dropped to 23-11 and 10-6 in league play. They play a doubleheader at Concordia-St. Paul today.

Weather nixes MSU events
Due to poor course conditions and cold temperatures, Minot State's baseball, men's golf and women's golf teams were inactive on Sunday.
Baseball was scheduled to complete a four-game series with Concordia-St. Paul at Corbett Field, but the noon/2 p.m. doubleheader was canceled because of freezing temperatures. The games will not be made up. The Beavers travel to Northern State for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Golf Championships in Omaha, Neb., will not be completed. The results after three rounds were deemed final.
MSU placed seventh, led by junior Kowan O'Keefe's fifth-place finish.
Women's golf returned home early from Sioux Falls, S.D., where the Augustana College Spring Invitional was cut short because of cold and windy weather.
The second round was canceled, therefore the first-round results will serve as the final scores. The Beavers shot a 353 and finished ninth. They play Friday and Saturday in Perham, Minn., at the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragon Invite.
