DATE SET FOR PANCAKE BREAKFAST IN MAXBASS The annual men's pancake breakfast at English Lutheran Church in Maxbass will be Sunday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m.
A freewill offering will be received.
SPRING DINNER TO BE SERVED IN CARPIO CHURCH The annual spring dinner in Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, will be Sunday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Meatballs, gravy and mashed potatoes, along with lefse, buns, green beans and coleslaw, will be served. Homemade pie, including sugar-free pie, will be served for dessert.
The cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for youth ages 6 to 12. Preschoolers will not be charged.
Raffles will be conducted by the Sunday School Department and the Carpio Lutheran Church Women.

KIRCHOFF TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS ORDINATION The 50th ordination of the Rev. Morris Kirchoff will be celebrated Sunday, April 6, at Faith AALC Church in Columbus. Worship will be at 11 a.m. and a potluck will follow. The celebration will conclude with the serving of cake and ice cream.
Kirchoff served in the Marine Corps for three years after he graducated from high school and then entered the seminary. He was ordained April 5, 1964, in Humboldt, Iowa.
He interned at Modovi, Wis., and his first parish was at Tupello and Corinth, Miss. He later served at Bell Plaine, Iowa, at Emmetsberg, Iowa, where he was employed by the University of Iowa as state director for handicapped children, at Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin, Kan., and at Shepherd of the Valley in Yuba City, Calif. He retired at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, in Williston, and then offered to serve as interim pastor at Faith AALC in Columbus.
Kirchoff also served for 20 years with the American Association of Lutheran Churches American Missions. He continues to serve with the Williston Honor Guard.
He and his wife, Orine, have one son, Mark.
