Regina ‘Delores’ Packineau

Regina "Delores" Foote Packineau (Black Medicine Xo'baadi shibbi'sha-sh), 80, Parshall, died Monday, March 3, 2014, in her home.

Delores was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Elbowoods, to James and Elsie (Fredericks) Foote. She attended elementary school in Lucky Mound and graduated from high school in Elbowoods. Delores was a cheerleader throughout high school and a barrel racer. She also attended college in Minot and worked as a cook and teachers' aide and upon completion of her education she taught at Parshall Head Start for 13 years, at which time she retired.

On Aug. 12, 1958, she was united in marriage, to the love of her life, Urius Wayne "Mickey" Packineau, in Stanley. Delores went back to work part time for the North Dakota Extension after her children graduated from high school. She enjoyed competing in rodeos and attending powwows.

Delores loved following her children and grandchildren's sporting events. One of her proudest moments was when her twin grandchildren, Neil and Nathaniel, were on the team that won the North Dakota State Class "B" Boys Basketball Tournament Championship in 2007. She enjoyed watching her granddaughters play basketball and would cheer loudly for them. At the time of her passing, her TV was set to BEK Channel to watch her granddaughters play for the district championship. She continually stressed to her children and grandchildren the importance of education and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Delores' favorite pastimes included going to basketball and football games, attending rodeo events, watching the NFR and PBR on television, driving through Lucky Mound listening to country western music aka "Mr. Moon." Delores was a lifelong member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 300. Delores was very proud of her children's accomplishments in life, including their education, work, and families. She was a humble person, known as "Mama" to those who knew her, and loved by all.

Delores is survived by: her children, Susie Simpson, Cindy Packineau, Mervin Packineau (Tina), Monte Packineau, and Patrick Packineau (Rhonda), all of Parshall, and C.J. Packineau (Patsy), Gonzales, Texas; grandchildren, Donessa, Jodi and Wayne Simpson, Shaun Packineau, Neil (Marisa), Nathaniel, Shanaye, Kiara and Mahki Packineau, Nicole Packineau, KayCee, Cheyenne and Sheridyn Packineau, Betty, Cassie, Vincent, and Montessa Packineau; great-grandchildren, Isabella Packineau, Braxton and Pryar Packineau, Nevaeh Packineau, Arianna, Icis Packineau, Juliet, Lamaya and Triston Rasmussen and Kenzi Bracklin; sisters, Kaye Driver (Delvin), New Town, Yvonne Gunderson (Mac), Rapid City, S.D.; brothers, James Foote (Junel), Charles Foote (Ernestine), both of Parshall, Delvin Foote (Joey), of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law, Virgina Foote; and many nieces and nephews; adopted children, Wanda (Fox) Mossett, Mark Fox and Susan "Arkie" Adolph.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Adrian Foote Sr.; sisters, Inez Baker, Vera Bracklin and Shirley Myrick; and grandchildren, Jace, Dakota and Trevone.

Funeral: Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 10 a.m., in Veterans Memorial Hall, Parshall.

Wake: Today, March 7, beginning at 5 p.m., in the memorial hall.

Interment: Memorial Congregational Church Cemetery, Raub, N.D.
