Marilyn Nelson, Minot
I would like to make the citizens of Minot aware of the fantastic work the volunteer firefighters perform for the citizens of Minot.
Our fire alarms went off around midnight on Jan. 5. The extreme cold weather caused a pipe to burst o n the first floor of our building. The firefighters were here within minutes to assist in the situation. They pushed water out of the building after they shut of the main water system. They put in many hours working to allow residents to get back into their apartments and to keep it from going into other apartments on the first floor.
This is the third time they came to get water out of the building on the first floor. They also came for a fire in one of the units.
My son and I decided to give them room to work and got a hotel room for the rest of the night.
It would be nice to have a time when our volunteer firefighters are suitably thanked for the wonderful work they do for Minot and rural areas around Minot. My son and I will be the first to say, "thank you" to these fine people.
