Ida Burkhardsmeier

Ida Burkhardsmeier, 84, Minot, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, in a Minot nursing home.

Ida Schmidt was born on Feb. 4, 1929, a daughter of Peter and Ann (Boechler) Schmidt, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot. She was raised and educated in Karlsruhe.

On July 11, 1950, Ida was united in marriage to Peter Burkhardsmeier. They made their home near Towner. Peter was drafted into the Army, and Ida remained in Towner. Following his discharge the family moved to Minot, where she was a homemaker raising the couple's six children. Peter died in 1986. Ida continued to live in Minot, where she was a caregiver to her daughter, Marlene. In July of 2013, she entered Manorcare Health Services.

She was a founding member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot.

Ida is survived by: Children, Peter Burkhardsmeier, Minot, Allan Burkhardsmeier, Minot, Patricia (Dean) Arnold, West Fargo, Marlene Burkhardsmeier, Mandan, Daniel (Kathy) Burkhardsmeier, Irvington, Ala., and Linda Burkhardsmeier, Minot; five grandchildren, Matthew Arnold, Michael Arnold, Sarah Arnold, Paul Burkhardsmeier and Peter Jiskra; one sister, Elizabeth Burckhard, Rugby; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter; and siblings, Benjamin, Philip, and John.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, Jan. 23, from 3 until 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Thursday at 7 p.m., in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
