North Dakota Highway Patrol released the name of a Makoti man killed in a Wednesday morning collision in rural Mountrail County.
Gino Begano, 40, was traveling south on a gravel road outside Palermo when his Dodge 1500 pickup crossed into the opposing lane. It collided head-on with a Dodge 3500 pickup truck driven by Jacob Mader, 20, of Palermo.
Begano died at the scene; Mader was transported to a Stanley hospital for injuries, treated and released. The report indicated that neither man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
