Margaret Kromrey, 69, Rolette, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at her home.

Margaret Ann Kromrey was born July 29, 1944, in Bismarck, to Sylvester "Tommy" and Luella (McGhan) Thomas. She grew up in Bismarck and attended a Catholic school there until her family moved to Bottineau, where she completed her high school education. Margaret was united in marriage to Eddie Kromrey at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau in 1962 and together they had two children, Tama and Shane. They later divorced.

Following their marriage, Margaret and Eddie moved to Wyoming and lived there for nearly two years before moving to Puyallup, Wash., where they lived for 10 years and where she worked as a police dispatcher for three years. In 1977, they moved back to Bottineau and ran "Tommy's Cafe" for seven years. After selling the cafe, they moved to the Rolette area where she worked at San Haven in Dunseith until its closure and then at Presentation Care Center in Rolette as a restorative aide for more than 20 years before retiring.

Margaret married Don Arends on Oct. 6, 2012. They continued to live near Rolette where Margaret loved to tend her flowers and her garden. She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, baking and doing crafts with her many friends in Rolette. Margaret liked to travel, going to Alaska, the East Coast, Washington, D.C., visiting the Kentucky Derby and going on bus tours. She loved to shop, collecting trinkets of many kinds and her many dogs and cats she had throughout the years.

Margaret passed away on Dec. 4, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 69. She will be greatly missed by her family members and many friends.

Margaret is survived by: her husband, Don Arends, of Rolette; daughter, Tama (David Clayton) Kromrey, of Minot; son, Shane Kromrey, of Everett, Wash.; two grandchildren, Ben Clayton, of Minot, and Tyler Kromrey, of Auburn, Calif.; sisters, Delores "DeeDee" Suchan, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bonnie Thomas, of Minneapolis; and a brother, Pete (Cherrie) Thomas, of Velva.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tommy Thomas.

Her funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rolette, with Father Philip Chacko presiding.

Burial will be in St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery, Bottineau, at a later date.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., in the church.
