Marie Elizabeth Ristvedt

Marie was born to Lenora (Brooke) and Rudolph Steinmetz in Minneapolis. The family moved to Minot in 1929. Marie graduated from Minot High School in 1937, received a standard teaching certificate from Minot State Teachers College in 1941, and a bachelor of science degree in education in 1962. She was employed as a librarian by the Minot Public School District and Bishop Ryan High School.

Marie was united in marriage to Paul C. Ristvedt on Feb. 15, 1944. He passed away in July 2006. In 2007 she moved to Buffalo, Minn., with her son, Skip. In 2008 she moved to Park Terrace Assisted Living in Buffalo, and most recently was a resident in the Park View Nursing Home.

Marie was a member of Minot's All Saints Episcopal Church, a member of the Minot PEO-Chapter G., and a charter member of the Minot Chapter of Sweet Adeline's. Her loves were her husband, Paul, singing, dancing and reading especially poetry.

Survivors include: Son, Skip (Mary) Ristvedt, of Buffalo, Minn.; foster son, Darrel (Karen) Kensrud, of Bloomington, Minn.; grandchildren, Kent Ristvedt, Steven (Lisa) Ristvedt, of Boone, Iowa; Amanda Ristvedt, of Johnston, Iowa; Shelly (Kensrud) Strong, of Bloomington, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Anthony (Jessica) Ristvedt, of Ogden, Iowa; Erica (Mike) Nootz, of Boone, Iowa; six great-great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews and their families.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, and two sisters.

A private ceremony of life will be held: Nov. 23 in the chapel at Park View Care Center, Buffalo, Minn.

A private graveside service will be held next spring in Minot.
