Peter "Pete" Lemer, 88, of Drake, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.

Peter Lemer, son of George and Katrina (Grad) Lemer, was born Oct. 28, 1925, on the family farm north of Drake, where he grew up and attended a nearby country school. As a young man, Pete began farming with his father and later took over the family farm.

On June 18, 1963, he was married to Jenny Senger at Orrin. They made their home on the Lemer farm until moving into Drake in 1994. Although the family farming and ranching operation was turned over to his son, Mitch, Pete continued to help on the farm as long as his health permitted.

Pete loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, who he was very proud of. He also enjoyed playing cards with family, friends and his Cenex crew; deer and pheasant hunting; fishing; visiting and listing to polka music.

Pete was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4856 of Drake. He served on the Round Lake Township Board and the Drake Rural Fire Department Board. Pete was also a member of the Anamoose Wildlife Club and a lifetime member of the Drake Threshing Association.

He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Jenny; his five children, Mary Kay (Myron) Miller, of Orrin, Mark Lemer, of West Fargo, Mitchell (Candy) Lemer, of Drake, Marlene (Jeff) Mack, of Drake, and Ronald (Heidi) Lemer, of McIntosh, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Matthew and Cameron Miller, Tyler Mack, Calie and Courtney Maruska, and Levi, Hannah and Mason Lemer; one sister, Theresa Keller, of Velva; and many nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Mack; two brothers, Frank and Ludwig; and four sisters, Magdalen Volk, Eva Volk, Rose Bruner and infant sister Josephine.

Funeral: Friday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 21, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home in Drake.

The prayer service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church.
