Following Bev's death on Jan. 21, 2001, he continued to make New Town his home.

On May 2, 2003, Norman married Jean Lund. They made their home in New Town and spent their winters in Texas and Arizona. Norman loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He went on several fishing trips to Alaska and Canada, and enjoyed cooking, socializing with friends and playing shuffleboard. He was an avid reader who enjoyed stories and books about history, was a Minnesota Vikings fan and loved dogs.
