Maggie Fiest, 75, Minot, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Magdalena Joan "Maggie" Weigel was born May 24, 1938, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Keller) Weigel, in Rugby. She was raised and educated in Orrin and later in Bergen.

As a young adult, she went to work for Dr. Larson in Velva for a time before moving back to the family farm in Bergen to assist her parents with the operation of the family farm.

Maggie married Anthony "Tony" Fiest on June 6, 1957, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe. They made their home in Minot, where she operated her own daycare for more than 30 years. Tony passed away Aug. 19, 1988. Following her husband's death, she continued to reside in Minot.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing bingo and pinochle, singing karaoke, and was an excellent artist.

Surviving family includes: children, Lynn Fiest, of Max, Joan (Roger) Pitts, Minot, Mark (Claudette) Fiest, Burlington, Dale Fiest and his companion, Melissa Mosser, Minot, and Lisa (Ralph "Ray") Yester, of Max; grandchildren, Shiann and Anna Fiest, Marcus and Jacob Yester, and Alex Fiest; brothers, Edward (Arlene) Weigel, rural Minot, and James (Sandy) Weigel, Beulah; sister, Otella (Johnny) Feist, Minot; brother-in-law, Roger Johnson, Valley City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maggie was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Tony; and sister, Mary Johnson.

Funeral: Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Monday, at 7 p.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
