Lineworkers from Verendrye Electric Cooperative’s offices in Velva and Minot, operate a Verendrye track digger near Elgin to install a new pole. Verendrye Electric Cooperative lineworkers Ethan Forbes, Shawn Buchmeier and Jody Bruce were sent to the southwest North Dakota on Monday to help Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative restore power after a major snow and ice storm knocked down more than 700 electrical poles. The track digger has tracks instead of wheels, which allows it to get through mud and snow easier. The digger portion drills holes in the dirt so new poles can be installed. Cooperatives often help each other out with workers and equipment after major storms. The Verendrye lineworkers will remain in that area for a few more days and then return home. More Verendrye lineworkers are expected to be sent there until all the lines and poles are replaced.
