Two years ago North Dakota's legislative assembly in its aversion to the poor and under-insured failed to pass a bill that would have implemented a state-based health insurance marketplace. Therefore, North Dakota defaulted to a federally-facilitated marketplace. The state is currently doing nothing to inform its citizens about how to sign up for insurance coverage under the Act. The North Dakota Department of Insurance has no funds allocated to provide such critical education. In Washington, Congressman Kevin Cramer is working hard to obstruct the new law and to further the shutdown of the greatest government in the world. If citizens have access to the information allowing them to sign up for the new insurance, I am confident they will make the new law a success here in North Dakota. Please tell your friends and family if they need affordable health insurance to go to (www.healthcare.gov) and sign up.
