FORT YATES (AP) - As many as 400 children on the Standing Rock Reservation will be getting free dental care this week.
North Dakota's Health Department says a Pediatric Dental Day is scheduled Friday and Saturday at Prairie Knights Casino near Fort Yates. A large group of dentists and dental workers and students from North Dakota, South Dakota and other states will be volunteering.
The Kansas-based America's Dentists Care Foundation Missions of Mercy nonprofit also is helping, as it has with similar events in other states.
The Health Department says studies show that American Indian children have three times more dental disease than any other population.
