Samuel Ross White Owl, 23, New Town, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, in New Town.

Samuel was born Aug. 1, 1990, in Stanley, to Randy and Noreen (Davis) White Owl. He was raised in New Town and attended New Town Public School. He graduated from New Town High School in 2009.

When Sam was young he liked to play with Legos; he would always work at them until he put them together. He then started building models of vintage cars. As he grew older his interests grew more toward vintage movies, hats or anything that had history. He taught himself to play electric guitar in high school; his favorite guitar was a Fender. One of his dreams was to play in New York in a band with his good friend Jesse Fevold.

Sam worked at the Four Bears Casino at the C-Store and the hot dog stand. He later worked at the General Store in New Town. He enjoyed the many trips he went on with his grandmother, mom and brothers to South Dakota to visit his uncle Brad and aunt Del, and go to Mount Rushmore, the Cosmic Cave and the Reptile Gardens. He especially enjoyed going to the set where they made the movie "Dances with Wolves."

Sam was a collector of pocket watches, shoes, fedoras or anything vintage. His other interests were music, movies and television shows. Some of his favorites were Metallica, Evanescence, Johnny Cash, "Lincoln," "Resident Evil," "Titanic" and "Pirates of the Caribbean."

During the Fourth of July he enjoyed bottle rocket fights and lighting fireworks with his family. He loved family gatherings! Some of his other interests were paint ball fights, playing video games with his brothers and watching television shows like "Ghost Hunters" and "Pawn Stars." He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. His favorite cat was his black and white cat named Max, which he had for 10 years, and his favorite dog was a German shepherd which he recently acquired and named Tiberius.

Sam always had a smile on his face and made you feel like you were part of his family. He had a good sense of humor and always had a quick come back when he heard a good joke. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Blessed be his memory among us.

Sam is survived by: his parents, Randy and Noreen White Owl, of New Town; brothers, Randy White Owl Jr. (Melissa), of Minot, and Robert White Owl, of New Town; godparents, Rhonda Woods and Curtis Danks; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
