Betty Peterson, 84, from Stanley, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, in a Stanley nursing home. Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Stanley. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Stanley. Visitation will be today, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 5 p.m., at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.
Betty Jane Peterson was born July 8, 1929, on the family farm near Donnybrook, to David and Mabel (Mader) Neether. She was raised and attended school in Stave Township.
Betty married LaVere Peterson on April 27, 1954. They made their home in Stanley, where they raised their four children. Betty worked at Mountrail Bethel Home, the Stanley Hospital and was a live-in nanny in Williston and Bismarck. She moved into Mountrail Bethel Home on May 23, 2011.
Family and friends were very special to Betty. She loved making new friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Betty loved collecting Breyer horses, porcelain dolls, gardening, doing crafts, quilting, working on puzzles and taking care of her plants. She loved spending time outdoors. Betty could make anyone smile with her good sense of humor. She will be deeply missed.
Betty is survived by: her children, Lonnie (Shirley) Peterson, Rochester, Wash., Randy (Tammy) Peterson, Palermo, Timothy (Melissa) Peterson, Palermo, and LaDonna Kinnoin, of Stanley; grandchildren, David (Cassi) Peterson, Priscilla (Daren) Otto, Jessica Peterson (Kris), Jayme (Amanda) Peterson, Samantha Peterson (Zach), Kyle Peterson and Chelsey Peterson; great-grandchildren, Saige and Annika Peterson, Bentley and Corbin Otto, Andrea Craft, Brayden and Kimber Fritel, Adalyn Peterson and Ashton Peterson; sisters, Loraine Erickson, Bismarck, and Virgil Wilhemi, Williston; brother, DuWayne Neether, Gillette, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVere; and her brothers, Dennis and Laverne Neether.
