Kenneth Kalenze, 53, Berthold, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, in a Bismarck hospital.
Kenny was born April 12, 1960, to LeRoy Jr. and Merle (Birdsall) Kalenze, in Minot. Kenny was raised on the family ranch and attended and graduated from Berthold High School.
Growing up Kenny had a fond interest working with anything mechanical. His interest and intelligence took Kenny to an inventive mind where he could build a part and get any vehicle running in a manner of time. Kenny's mechanical intelligence, along with strong family values and generosity, would have him help a family member fix a car just by listening and communicating with them. All Kenny would ask for is a family meal for pay. Kenny always had a strong work ethic making him leader of the pack, being the first to have his vehicle running, saddle a horse, take care of a calf and come home to complete brick work on his house. Kenny's love for socializing took him on many travels exploring new job opportunities in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Texas, Louisiana and New York.
Kenny's work experience gave him extended families, working for Harvey Billadeau and the Billadeau Ranches for over eight years Kenny always felt like part of the Billadeau family. In the past year, Kenny enjoyed having another extended family working for Luger Ranches.
Kenny married Elaine Oster on Oct. 13, 1990. Together they started K & E Construction, doing several construction jobs in the Minot area. They later divorced, however remained the closest of friends, helping each other constantly.
Kenny is survived by: sisters, Barbra (Tom) Kraft, Berthold, and Michelle (Mike) Bradley, Billings, Mont.; brothers, Drew (Katie) Kalenze, Fort Yates, and Linus (Renee) Kalenze, Berthold; nieces and nephews, Juliana (Lance) Brossart, Tisa Kraft, TJ Kraft, Danielle (Travis) Greeno, Casey (Carrie) Kalenze, Greg Kalenze, Jessica (Jarrod) Rademacher, Amanda Westmeyer, Matthew Westmeyer, Kianna Eagle Chasing, Braydon Avery and Ethan Eagle Chasing; five great-nephews and one great-niece; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends.
