Robert Ray Jones, 75, of Pea Ridge, Ark., formerly of Parshall, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Ark., surrounded by family after a 20-year fight with cancer.

He was born in Eads, Colo., on Aug. 3, 1938, to Walter and Anne Jones. He grew up in Oklahoma and went to school in Healdton, Okla. He served in the Air Force from March 1956 to March 1960 and was stationed at Clovis, N.M., and also served in Turkey and France. He married Betty Ridings in 1960 and they had two children, Duane and Julie. They later divorced. He worked in the oil fields until he got hurt, then went to work as a logging engineer for McCullough Tool Company. He later went to work for the government in the missile fields, where he was an overseer of the sites and moved around to different states. He married Maryls Nordquist, and they later retired and moved to her home state of North Dakota, where she passed away Oct. 9, 2002. He married Connie Sandstrom on June 20, 2003, and they traveled around before settling in Pea Ridge, Ark.

Robert enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Pea Ridge. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; second wife, Maryls; grandparents; and nephew, Winston.

Survivors are: his wife, Connie, of the home; son, Duane (Ticia), of Centerton, Ark.; daughter, Julie (John) Foster, of Shawboro, N.C.; stepchildren, Stacy (Richard) Sandstrom, of Granbury, Texas, Daren (Brenda) Sandstrom, of Minot, Michelle (Ole) Shipp, of Granville, Sandy Piper and Bruce Nordquist, both of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister Jan (David) Hoard, of Sterling, Okla.; grandchildren, Jack and Walter Foster; stepgrandchildren, Jacob Sandstrom, Marcus, Eberle, Cooper, Reed, and Kinley Shipp, Josie and Josh Piper, Byron Sweet; niece, Tammy; and nephews, James and Yancy; adopted family, Dallas and Lindsay LaCaze and family.

Memorial service: Set for Thursday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church in Pea Ridge, Ark., with Pastor Richard Mayer and Pastor Dallas LaCaze officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Plaza at a later date.
