Steven "Dan" Asbe, 65, Minot, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in a Minot nursing home.
Steven Daniel Asbe was born June 21, 1948, a son of O.K. "Bud" and Amanda (Vaagen) Asbe, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Carpio, where he graduated from Carpio High School in 1966. He furthered his education by attending Minot State University.
Steven was united in marriage to Cindy Stockdill on May 1, 1970, in Carpio. They made their home in Carpio until 1975, when they moved into Minot. He began a career in sales, working for Mann's Automotive, Tollefson's Carpetland, I. Keating Furniture World, The Minot Daily News, and for the past 24 years at Scheels All Sports. He won many awards throughout his sales career at Scheels, including being the top in sales of all the stores in 2011 and 2012, topping the million and a half dollar mark. He also earned 22 trips from Scheels, including trips to Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico and countless cruises.
Steven enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting deer and pheasant or golfing. He also enjoyed listening to all varieties of music. Steven was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who always had a smile, and whenever he would meet a stranger, they would leave as a friend.
He is survived by: wife of 43 years, Cindy, Minot; daughter, D'Ann (special friend, Willie Rhines) Asbe of Minot; three grandsons, RaShaun, DeVaun and TyReece, all of Minot; two sisters, Dawn Christianson, Laughlin, Nev., and her children Darcy, Daryn and Tanya; and Patricia (Larry) Mock, of Minot, and their daughter, Krysta (special friend, Jason Sterling) Mock, of Minot; brother-in-law, Ken (Sandy) Stockdill, Florence, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Dick) Schmitz, Lolo, Mont., Becky Vogt, Blair, Neb. and Kathy Anderson, Carpio.
Steven was preceded in death by: his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Lynn and Arlene Stockdill; brothers-in-law, Wayne Christianson and Rick Anderson; and a niece, Tracy Christianson.
Memorial Service: Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m., at the Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio.
Burial: A private family burial will take place.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, friends may sign a guest register on Friday, from noon until 4 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
