Water rescue on the north side of the Souris River
Just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday night a caller reported that a Ford F-350 pickup truck drove into the north side of the Souris River from the 300-block of Fourth Avenue Northwest.
Unofficial police reports indicate that a witness believed the truck was on fire before entering the river. Sgt. Shane Haug, who was on the scene that night, though, doesn't believe that this is true.
When emergency crews responded the driver of the truck was standing on the roof of his fully-submerged vehicle.
Members of the Ward County dive team were able to recover the vehicle from the water after members of the Minot Fire Department rescue dive team determined there was nobody else in the vehicle.
