School will start Wednesday for students in the Minot Public Schools.
School times are different for different schools. At in-town elementary schools, the school day begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. At Dakota Elementary at Minot Air Force Base, the starting time is 9 a.m. and the end of the school day is 3:15 p.m. At North Plains Elementary at Minot Air Force Base, the school day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. At Bell Elementary School, the school start time is 8:05 a.m. and the day will end at 2:20 p.m.
At in-town middle schools, Erik Ramstad and Jim Hill, the school day will start at 8:51 a.m. and end at 3:15 p.m. At Memorial Middle School, the school day starts at 7:40 a.m. and ends at 2:05 p.m.
At Minot High School-Magic City Campus, the school day starts at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. All students are required to be present by 8 a.m. At Minot High School-Central Campus, the day starts at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 2:52 p.m. All students need to be at school by 8 a.m.
School lunch is available for students in grades K-12, at a cost of $1.95 per lunch at the elementary level, at $2.15 per lunch at the middle school level, and at $2.15 per lunch at the senior high level. Breakfast before school is available at most schools and costs $1.25 per breakfast.
Optional fees for other activities follow: $40 for a season activity ticket for grades 1-12.
Kids who want to participate in a high school athletic team pay $50 for each activity, with a maximum fee of $125. For high school speech and debate, the fee is $50. For middle school athletic teams, the fee is $25 per athletic activity, with a maximum fee of $62.50.
Instrument rental for all schools is $10 for bells, $40 for percussion and $75 for all other instruments.
Students who will be attending the Minot Public Schools for the first time this fall and who have not yet registered, are asked to go to the Board of Education office at 215-2nd St. SE. Enrollments will be accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Parents must bring a birth certificate and immunization record for each child they are enrolling. Also, they will need to bring proof of residence such as a home mortgage statement, lease agreement, property tax statement or current utility bill for their address. Students enrolling in the first grade must be 6 years old prior to midnight Aug. 1 of this year to enroll; students enrolling in kindergarten must be 5 years old prior to midnight on Aug. 1 of this year to enroll.
Parents who had a child enrolled in a school within Minot last year but who have now moved to another area should contact the office of the school where the child should now be enrolled.
