A criminal complaint was filed by Deputy State's Attorney for Ward County Kelly Dillon Monday against Clark Christensen, 57, Shelley, Idaho, for a Class B felony charge of manslaughter.
The charge is connected to the May 16 major crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and the U.S. Highway 83 Bypass near Minot that resulted in the death of Megan Shoal, 21, Plentywood, Mont., who had just completed her third year at Minot State University when the crash took her life, according to her obituary.
The crash also resulted in injury to two other drivers in addition to Shoal and Christensen, and also resulted in property damage to the vehicles of three other drivers.
Following the accident, Ward County Commissioner Alan Walter deemed the intersection a "death trap" at a May 21 meeting of the commissioners. He has since drafted a resolution to look into fixes for the intersection that could prevent such occurrences in the future. The resolution was adopted.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Christensen.
