Nancy Bommelman, Minot
I have a question for these so-called investors from out-of-state and in-state who are building on North Hill: Who can afford this? A tennis court and a theatre? Tell me an average person who is working 40 hours a week who can afford this.
Of course, guess who's going to get all the rent money from this place, lining the big boys who can afford it, not the average person who works for a living. It keeps getting worse instead of better. I wish I could afford to build affordable housing. If only I was a millionaire, I could do it. I would build and let people live there that are dependable and work for a living. This high rent in town is unbelievable and terrible. I would like to know how these landlords can sleep at night, knowing they are ripping off the average person. They don't care if you can't afford it, they will find some oil person who is making money to rent it out. Greed. What a shame.
I was talking to some people and they were telling me how nice Bismarck is, streets are clean, roads are clear, river is cleaned up. Drive around Minot sometime and look across the bridges and look how disgusting and things hanging from the bridges. How come Bismarck can clean up but not Minot?
Oh, that's right we have to build more buildings that the average person can't afford. I said it once, I'll say it again: Work smarter, Minot, not harder.
