The Williston State College softball program announced the signing of pitcher Alyssa Affleck on Wednesday.
Affleck, a native of Prince Edward Island, Canada, was being courted by the Tetons a year ago before a broken thumb postponed her recruitment. She racked up several accolades during her prep career, including being named the top pitcher of the Eastern Canadians Championships in 2011 and 2012. Affleck's team won gold medals at the tournament both years.
Eric Peterson, the Tetons' athletic director and former softball coach, is continuing to recruit for the program until a new coach is named.
"Alyssa has Division I speed in the circle and can throw a variety of pitches," Peterson said in a press release. "Alyssa can also play multiple positions, which will definitely make her an immediate impact on the team."
