What happened to right and wrong? What happened to sin?
I refer to an article, "Two views of the same issue," in the May 19 edition of The Minot Daily News.
Why wouldn't we all agree that life is best? The choice to have or not have a baby is before one have a physical relationship with a man and preferably when married. If a baby is conceived in rape or incest, a woman may choose to give the baby up for adoption. Adoption is a life-saver. Adding an abortion to the trauma a woman has suffered through rape or incest is not making her life easier or better. Killing your child is traumatic. Many women who have experienced this will tell you so.
It is a scientific fact that life begins at conception. At 18 days a baby's heart begins to beat. At 43 days the brain coordinates movements and at 8 weeks all organs are functioning. At 9 weeks the baby has permanent individual fingerprints. At 10 weeks a baby can smile, suck his/her thumb and make a fist. There are many couples waiting to adopt. Love your baby enough to give it to a loving family.
Remember your baby's eyes develop 14 days from conception. I read a sign that said, "Grandpa says, I'm a Looker!" No woman should feel forced to have an abortion and suffer the traumatic effects of it for a lifetime. We, as women, should think more of ourselves and our baby than to consider killing him/her.
St. Gianna's Maternity Home is an option for any woman or girl who may need help and support. It is in Warsaw. There are other pregnancy support centers, too.
If you've had an abortion and need confidential counseling and post-abortion assistance call Project Rachel at 1-888-329-3773 or National Life Center at 1-800-848-LOVE.
Soon there will be help available in Minot for women. Dakota Hope Clinic will open its doors in the Main Medical Building.
Make the right choice choose life. Your mother did!
