Born Feb.1, 1929 in Coleharbor, he passed away June 1, 2013, at home in Arlington, Wash. He served in the Navy and worked his entire career for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a longtime member of the FOE, BPOE, and the Moose.
Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy, his parents and 2 brothers.
He is survived by: three daughters, Debbie Simpson (Marlin Skipton), Sandy Sailand (Karl) and Ginger Zimmer (Karl); seven grandchildren, Kristie Zahnow-Miller (Warren), Karey Coble (Steve), Jesse Skipton (LeeAnn), Kevin Sailand, Lisa Conover (Chris), Arielle Zimmer and Alliea Zimmer; and eight great-grandchildren, Lilly and Lyndsey Zahnow, Trevor, Nathan and Brandon Coble, and Payton, Riley and Skylar Conover. Don is also survived by his sister, Elda Mae Steen, and many nieces and nephews.
He took pride in taking care of his family and friends and will carry on in the memory of those he touched.
Memorial service, 11 a.m., Friday, June 7, at Wiggen & Sons Funeral Home, 2003 NW 57th St., Seattle.
