BISMARCK - Minot High School freshman Cody Reynolds edged Bismarck Century's Troy Ressler on the second playoff hole to win the Riverwood Invitational on Friday. Both golfers shot 76 in regulation.
"It was great," Reynolds said of competing in the playoff. "It was a little nerve-racking at first. Once I hit my first shot pretty good, it loosened up my nerves a little bit."
The win marked the first varsity tournament win for Reynolds, who helped the Magicians to a third-place finish. Bismarck won the event with a 320, followed by Century (322) and Minot (329). Williston finished eighth with a 373 and Turtle Mountain took the ninth and final spot with 377 strokes.
After carding a double-bogey on the first hole, Reynolds shot two over the rest of the way. He was the lone MHS golfer to break 80.
The West Region tournament is Tuesday in Dickinson.
