A black-and-white photo by a Minot photographer won the Best in Show award recently at the Minot Camera Club's banquet and awards ceremony.
Kyra Hansen's untitled photo of a young woman took the top honors by edging out two other finalists: "Beautiful Eyes" by Shirley Gorthy, winner of the color division; and "Are We Done Yet?" by Judy Valgren, champion of the digitally altered category. Both also hail from Minot.
Marshall Hill of Minot judged the finals.

Betty Nordstrom of Minot was also honored, receiving the Top Photographer of the Year and the Eileen McEown Outstanding Member of the Year awards.
Hansen and David Abernathy were named co-winners of the Rosemary Debertin Memorial Outstanding First Year Member award.
Also honored for winning photographs were Nordstrom, Colin Thompson, Ellen Fenner, Anne Cantone, Steve Stilseth and Shelly Adams, all of Minot; and Richard Debertin of Berthold.
Also, the results of the club's April meeting, postponed until recently by bad weather, were also announced. The theme was "weather." Debertin took first place in both the black-and-white division, with "Storm Clouds Gathering," and the digitally altered category with "Sunflower Weather." Holly Johnson of Minot won the color category with "Confusion."
April's judge was Michelle Rudland, Lansford.
